It started snowing a little after school started. Unfortunately we were benchmark testing in reading to prepare for the upcoming STAAR test so we couldn't go play until everyone was finished. Our LC students enjoyed playing, making angles, throwing snowballs, and sliding in the snow!
Stay warm and safe at home tomorrow, Tuesday, for snow day number two. Bored? Read a book, play a game, write a story, get on SpellingCity, Xtramath, TTM, or abcya! All links on the symbaloo page. Due to the weather, there will be no school tomorrow! Stay warm, and practice English with the links on symbaloo. This week's library time included a free book from McDonald's! After our wonderful librarian read a loud a Dr. Seuss book, Mrs. Scammel handed us our books. The books are Big Nate, and they include stickers! Thank you McDonald's and Mrs. Scammel for arranging our free books! We love reading. We celebrated Valentine's Day today with reading about, writing valentines, giving presents, and having a party! Thei kids brought presents for each other and me. They even brought presents for the beginner language center students. They worked hard to complete our work, so that we could enjoy our party! I think it was a success! I love my Language Center students! Our class participated in World Jam Day, a day focuses on getting kids moving all at the same time. We got on GoNoodle and completed a Zumba workout! The kids really enjoyed taking a break and getting active! We are learning new things in math all the time, but it's alwaysba good idea to review previously learned math content. Today in math we played Math Cafe to review adding and subtracting decimals, while also learning about financial literacy. Our South Hill high school intern led the group in playing the game, while also speaking in English! We love playing games while learning! The Advanced ESL students have been learning about justice, freedom, and standing up for what is right. They have been reading about slavery, abolitionists, and the Underground Railroad in our Reach textbooks and small guided reading books.
To learn more, go to the Scholastic website's interactive slideshow on the Underground Railroad here to start your journey. Good luck! |
