Just in case my 5th graders needed help with the homework this weekend, I made a little video to help you. It goes over numbers 1 to 6 and gets you started on number 7 all by yourself. I know you can do it, that's why I assigned it to you! The article says "On Sunday night the skies will be greeted by a reddish Supermoon and a lunar eclipse, a combination that hasn't happened for 30 years and won't happen again until 2033, according to NASA. The moon will appear bigger than normal during the eclipse because it will be closest to Earth while in orbit, which scientists call a perigee." Be sure to go outside tonight around 9 (if you're still up) to watch or go to NASA.com to watch the live online video feed starting at 7:30.
After my technology class last night, I wanted to show my class something new to help us show off our learning. Since I have tablets, i-pods, and computers in my class I wanted to incorporate technology into the lesson. We just started a unit on matter in science, I wanted to see what they know. I showed them how to log into padlet.com and showed them our classroom space for matter. Then I let them show off, using my interactive whiteboard to show that it saved and shared their information in real time. We had a lot of fun with it, and will use it again.
See for yourself! My wonderful students have gotten so good at using technology and I want to encourage them to attend trainings on their own. If you are interested in technology and live nearby, use the links to find a class near you!

The Advanced ESL students have been learning about justice, freedom, and standing up for what is right. They have been reading about slavery, abolitionists, and the Underground Railroad in our Reach textbooks and small guided reading books.
To learn more, go to the Scholastic website's interactive slideshow on the Underground Railroad here to start your journey. Good luck! Hey kiddos! I'm blogging live from the FWISD tech conference. I already recieved a fun tech tool that will help with Xtra Math on my laptop or any computer! Getting ready for the sessions now, where I will learn more about technology and how to use it in the classroom. Whatever I learn, I can't wait bring it back to school to help you learn!
